When We Were Young...and Stupid

Go over to Derfwad Manor and read all the stupid things we Blog Queens did as Young Princesses. (The 12th-or-so comment is my famous "Introduction to New York" story which, while famous amongst my friends and face-to-face acquaintances, is published on the web exclusively at Mrs. G's.)

"I don't know how he figured out we were staying at a hotel."

Sublime line.

So, you weren't the cutting edge of the gentrifying of Harlem?

I think she needs to do this like her open house post--I want more!

Oh my gosh that was a great post. And I have you to blame, er, thank for introducing me to Mrs G. I think I spent over an hour reading her blog. So much for getting to bed earlier this morning!

Went to Manhattan with a good friend...I was maybe 17, he was 20ish and a ministers kid. We went up to go "Church Hopping". He desperately wanted to get to St John the Devine, WAY up the west side...we hopped the subway and accidentally took the express...next stop 128th street or so. There we were on a mid week day in the summer, two well dressed very WHITE kids walking through Harlem trying to find a church. Funny thing...the ONLY people that even looked twice at us were the white police officers that we saw. No one offered help or trouble. We crossed the Island and back again...Finally found Grant's Tomb and St John's...worth the trip...but WHAT A TRIP!!!

Ok those stories are scaring the crap out of me. It's too late for me to be reading this stuff.

Glad you didn't end up in Harlem.
